Panevėžys triathlon – build-up for European Champs

22nd of May, will set a new milestone for Lithuanian triathlon, as 5th largest city of Lithuania, Panevėžys will host European Junior Triathlon Cup stage. New milestone, as competition will take place in full scale reconstructed Panevėžys Senvagė park, located in the hearth of the city. Event will be an opener for the city and opener of 2022 European triathlon in Northern region. Within an excelent time and distance range from European Sprint Championships in Olsztyn, Panevėžys might be a build-up destination for many.
Panevėžys is in a perfect location from logistics standpoint, as there are 3 international airports located within reasonable distance:
• 106 km from Kaunas international airport (KUN)
• 145 km from Vilnius international airport (VNO)
• 160 km from Riga international airport (RIX)
One might find himself questioning: how to proceed with the transfers then? It is as convenient as it could be, as Lithuanian Triathlon partner Ollex has loads of experience with team and bicycle transfers. Drop them a note and transfers from airport to Panevėžys will be handled with efficiency. Also, we know that European Championships in Olsztyn is one of the main event‘s for many, therefore, Ollex offered to extend their service and provide transportation from Panevėžys to Olsztyn and back to the airport, if needed. Sounds that most of the journey is already planned?
As a host city for 2011 European Basketball Championships and a regional hub for track cycling (UCI Track Champions League 2021), Panevėžys can offer multiple accommodation options, all tailored to your needs. Hotel „Romantic“ located in a heart of the racing village is a top quality facility, with internal gym and swimming pool, other hotels are also within close proximity to Senvagė park.
Lastly, city of Panevėžys is hungry for international comeback, therefore, rest asured that we will our best to provide exceptional racing experience for the athletes and supporting teams. On 9th of April Panevėžys already had a test event with same configuration.
On a same note, Open Lithuanian Sprint Triathlon Championship will be hosted between the break of individual and mixed-relay starts. Thereof, 22nd of May in Panevėžys will be a true triathlon hotspot.

SWIM COURSE

Type: old riverbed lake
Start procedure: pontoon start
Number of laps: 1 for both individual and mixed-relay races. Counterclockwise swim for mixed-relay and clockwise swim for individual race.
Water temperature: unknown, most likely below 20°C

BIKE COURSE

Number of laps: 2 for both individual and mixed-relay race. Mixed relay course consists of two loops of 3 km, excluding appendix apparent in individual race.
Surface: asphalt, tyles
Quality: good and very good

Surface: new tyle path (95%), asphalt (5%)
