The Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Hamburg age-group event has sold out, with a total of 8,775 amateur athletes registered to compete. The individual and relay races will take place on the 17th and 18th of July.

“The high number of registrations underlines the incredible popularity of triathlon in Germany and Central Europe. The combination of swimming, biking and running is enjoyed by every age group, even among young kids. This year we have 4,000 young people registered to compete in the City Kids Triathlon,” said Frank Bertling, managing director of Upsolut Events GmbH, which is organising the event.

Students in grades 2-13 from 60 different schools in the Hamburg area will compete in the Kids City Triathlon.

With a total of 12,900 athletes registered to compete in the age-group, kids and Elite competitions, the Hamburg Triathlon is the largest triathlon in the world.

Fair and side events programme booked out

In addition to the competition, the fair and side events programme is sold out as well. The 6,000 square metre area at the “Jungferstieg” gives the spectators and participants the opportunity to check out 50 exhibitors presenting triathlon and outdoor products.
