Antes de los Juegos del Commonwealth en Glasgow, el Equipo Inglés no había conseguido medallas. Pero Jodie Stimpson, Vicky Holland, y los hermanos Brownlee cambiaron la historia y sus actuaciones son recordadas entre las mejores del año.

Jodie Stimpson comenzó la acción y ganó la primera medalla del triatlón y la primera de oro de los Juegos del Commonwealth.

En una carrera cerrada, Vicky Holland acompañó a Stimpson en el podio al que subió en tercer lugar, detrás de la canadiense Kirsten Sweetland.

Horas más tarde, los hermanos Brownlee destruyeron literalmente al resto de los competidores con una escapada temprana en el trayecto en bicicleta. Si bien Alistair y su hermano menor Jonathan pedalearon juntos, fue evidente que Alistair quería agregar el oro de los Commonwealth a su colección, y lo hizo con una actuación pedestre sublime.

Después, los cuatro atletas se juntaron para quedarse con el oro del debut de los Relevos en el programa de los Juegos del Commonwealth.

In Mixed Relay’s debut at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, England put together a fiery race garner gold with the team of Jodie Stimpson, Jonathan Brownlee, Vicky Holland and Alistair Brownlee.

England's Jodie Stimpson put together a tactically brilliant race on the first day of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games to be awarded the first gold medal of the games, with it earning England its first ever triathlon medal.
